50 Years H. Schoenenberger

The company H. Schönenberger GmbH has for more than 50 years been a leading international premium manufacturer of steel- and tungsten carbide  blades and knives utilised in industrial production systems.

More than 60 employees at our central location in Germany, and 33 representative worldwide, make important contributions to product quality and, as a result, to precise production results for your company. Year after year, some 30,000 cutting blades leave our innovative production facility in Deizisau near Stuttgart, which this family business very deliberately keeps in Germany and will continue to develop.

In 1964 Hermann Schönenberger used his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for construction to found the first grinding- and service station for machine blades of all types – the company Schönenberger GmbH was born in Stuttgart. Three years later, the young company was bursting at the seams and moved into its first self-owned operational facilities. The company’s growth continued in the years that followed, and there were further corresponding relocations until finally, in 1984, the current location in Deizisau was opened. Shortly thereafter, Schönenberger began with production of its own tungsten carbide knives.

Initially, blades were made only for the paper-producing and -processing industry. But with time, the range of products was expanded and other divisions, such as sheet metal processing and plastic-recycling-industry, were added.

Thanks to an outstanding demand, construction of additional space became necessary, and beginning in 1997 a total of over 5000 square meters of production space was made available. Of course, if one produces a lot of high-quality product, substantial administrative needs come with that development.

Thus in 2002 Schönenberger invested in a new administrative building with state-of-the-art technology, organisation and device infrastructure. Over the decades and under the leadership of the Schönenberger family, the company has won an excellent reputation as a reliable and innovative firm with high-quality “Made in Germany” standards. In order to build upon that status, in 2003 the company integrated the paper knife division of Widia. In 2014, Schönenberger took over the pelletizing expert Anhold Industry, and thus further extended its competence in the area of plastic knives and recycling blades. Also in 2014, Schönenberger acquired the paper knife division of Ceratizit.
